The same person Ms. Preneet Kaur welcomed both Than Shwe and David Cameron, so Myanmar was not treated any differently than UK in terms of diplomatic protocol. Just noting.

As someone said in brf, more westminster than westminster, or what I call protocol-nazis :). Imagine the H&D battle if someone from the TOP went and received Than Shwe, at least SM Krishna, is that too hard to ask?! Why a MoS, why why why??! Btw, some soft points worth noting: Than Shwe believes in a good jyotish, But more so does Kyaing Kyaing. I am not sure if either Maung Aye or Thura Shwe Mann or Myint Swe came along. One of the three is going to succeed Than Shwe, who is 77 1/2 now. The end is near, and succession is usually smooth in Burma (esp seen from a long-term perspective). Put your $ on Myint Swe and dig him up. But Myint Swe is a Mon, not an ethnic Burman, that is going to be a major cause of whines.

Talking about ethnicity, I did not realize "Chins" were predominately Christians. And they border desh. I just home the animistic tradition has stayed strong in them.
